Suppose you’re feeling like watching a movie.  You’re trying to decide what to watch and some female acquaintance that you’re hanging with suggests one of those movies designed for only one gender: chick flicks.  The ladies love these movies.  They make them smile, laugh, cry, and feel warm fuzzies.  Girls are happy when watching chick flicks.  Guys are usually either bored with, annoyed by, or confused by these movies.  We don’t understand why every relationship in the film is complex, usually involving at least three people.  We don’t understand why all the characters are so emotionally imbalanced, driven to tears by the slightest things.  And mostly, we don’t get how anyone could watch something with no explosions for two hours.

Now some guys at this point would say, “only girls should watch chick flicks.”  But those are loserly jerks who wouldn’t recognize a gentleman if one walked up and bit ‘em in the face, which is also not a very gentlemanly thing to do.  A true gentleman would be okay with watching an occasional chick flick for the sake of the members of the female population.  They don’t lose man-points; they may even gain them!  An unmanly activity can be conquered by taking on the right attitude and being confident in your manliness.  In conclusion,

If you are manly enough to do something unmanly and still be manly, it is proof of manliness.

We were in the middle of a road trip to Columbus State about 15 minutes away, when Michael offered us tic-tacs.  You know, those “candies” for people too lazy to brush their teeth…  But as Ben took a single tic-tac, Jordan and Andrew gasped in astonishment, and Michael nearly rear-ended the car in front of us.  We quickly informed Ben of his grave, near-fatal error:

One tic-tac is unmanly, you need both a tic and a tac.

He will never make the same mistake again.  In fact, he now calls them “tough-tacs.”

There is nothing harder for a guy, then trying to understand a girl.  Oh, we do try!  But usually we end up more confused than if we had just left it alone.  Since girls are so different and complex, it is extremely hard to put a guy and a girl together for many, many years.  This is important.  It is God’s way of making sure you only score it big once!  For a guy and a girl, two completely different beings, to truly be able to live life together, they must get to know each other and try to understand one another.  This is more often than not almost impossible for the guys.  It takes a ridiculous amount of comprehension and patience to try to predict and understand what goes on in the complex infrastructure known as the female mind!  But it is supposed to be…

It’s supposed to be hard, so you only win once.

So the next time you get frustrated at the futile efforts of guys, try not to be too hard on him, he’s trying!

Girls often accuse guys of being dense. That we don’t see the signs, don’t get the message. We are here to tell womankind that we men wish we didn’t have to be dense. But we do.

See, if guys were as transparent as girls and let that show, we’d be in all kinds of trouble. If I thought someone was “into me” every time she smiled at me, we’d be disappointed later when we found out the truth. If the signs were more serious, we might get rather hurt further down the line when things fall apart. So, we purposely don’t let ourselves get too wrapped up in the subtle signs, even when we want to believe they’re true. We wait to make sure it’s all real before we let it get to us, because if it’s not, it won’t be fun later on.  The point is, guys are dense on purpose, so that every little thing doesn’t bother us to an extreme. In short…

We can’t afford not to be dense.

Girls, keep this in mind next time you think guys are stupid and dense!

So we were all at a Wendys eating lunch a few hours before going to a ball.  One of us had forgotten his wallet and had to split a ten with one of the others.  We had also just agreed to meet up with some friends who were waiting for us in a nearby parkinglot, but we ended up just going straight to Wendys without meeting them.  Oops.  Almost ate without ‘em.  Close call…

So by now, we’re all slightly fatigued, excited, and hungry.  That’s when this mannism came to light!  We were cracking jokes and stuff, as usual.  Us guys were on one side of the table and the girls on the other.  Both groups would talk amongst themselves on occasion and the others would hear bits and pieces such as “butcher the bunny.”  One of the girls asked what we were giggling about.  But we weren’t giggling.  Giggling sounds like ”hee hee hee!”  That’s not manly.  Men’s little laughs sound like “heh heh heh!”  It’s called chuckling, and it’s manly…

Girls giggle, real men chuckle.

…We didn’t tell them what we were chuckling about.  And we aren’t going to tell you either.

This blog may serve many different purposes, although we are planning on posting quotes and sayings about manliness and girls as we find them, sometimes a post may be made up of more than just a short sentence if we feel inspired to write more. Manisms can be found all over the place, so the ones we collect will come from many different sources, such as our friends. We may add Manisms often, or it could be a while in between posts… maintenance of this blog is not a huge priority for us. But if you find a Manism, please let us know!
